Meeting of CZE-SVK Defence Cooperation Steering Committee

The CZE-SVK Defence Cooperation Steering Committee (DCSC) convened for its annual talks in Bratislava on 18 December 2018. The talks were chaired by State Secretary of the SVK Ministry of Defence Róbert Ondrejcsák and CZE Deputy Minister of Defence Jakub Landovský. The focus of the 2018 CZE-SVK defence cooperation assessment was on defence planning, armaments, industrial cooperation, inter-agency cooperation, logistics, exercises, education, airspace protection, and legislation.

Both partners agreed that the CZE-SVK defence engagement is very good and expressed their satisfaction with how individual working groups deal with the agenda. It was concluded that the greatest progress was achieved in fields of education, training and logistics. On the other hand, the most challenging area of interest was the armaments cooperation between CZE and SVK state-owned defence manufacturers and organizations.

State Secretary Ondrejcsák and Deputy Minister Landovský also delved into security issues of current relevance. The joint meeting of the CZE-SVK Steering Committee was concluded with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Czechoslovak Statehood Memorial and the M. R. Štefánik Memorial in Bratislava.
