Ministry of Defence remembers victims of the Holocaust and racial hatred

To mark Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD), known as Holocaust Victims and Racial Hatred Day in Slovakia, a commemorative ceremony in remembrance of all victims of the Holocaust and racial hatred was held in Bratislava’s Rybné Square today (9 September 2019). Representing the SVK MOD at the HMD ceremony was State Secretary of the Slovak Ministry of Defence Róbert Ondrejcsák.

Holocaust Victims and Racial Hatred Day is observed on 9 September in Slovakia. On 9 September 1941, the Government of the Slovak State issued the Order on the Legal Status of Jews, also known as the Jewish Code. This set of legal regulations, one of the cruellest in Europe, imposed even harsher anti-Jewish measures and led to degrading Jewish people and limiting their civil, religious and human rights.
