The classified leaked documents in the Military Intelligence which, according to the information flagged by the SME daily, allege the Military Intelligence of tunneling, is a scandal of the previous government, stated the Minister of Defence of the SR Martin Glváč at the press conference on Thursday.
It concerned materials, which were shredded at the erstwhile Military Intelligence director’s command, despite the fact that the then Prime Minister and then serving Minister of Defence Iveta Radičová made a request for reinvestigation of the documents. The shredding was carried out just a few days after the parliamentary elections.
‘This mater concerns the former management of the Ministry of Defence and the practices of the Military Defence Intelligence and the Military Intelligence Service,’ stated the Minister. He said he would be the first person to inform the General Prosecutor's Office to take legal action in case he received relevant documents suggesting that a crime had been committed.
‘Such materials did not pass through my hands, though. So far I have only been given disinformation, long modified documents full of lies, which included certain reliable information in order to appear as relevant and trustworthy documents,’ continued Glváč. Different mistakes in the mentioned names and posts and unreasonable connections speak volumes for the same.
These materials are the outcomes of the bad former management. The former Minister of Defence, during whose term some scandalous matters and illegal wiretaps occurred, appointed people to the posts of Military Intelligence Service who were not professionally qualified; neither had they the makings of leaders of such institution.
The director of the Ministry's Intelligence Service Ľubomír Skuhra confirmed that even if it the economic documents were manipulated between natural and legal persons, it does not mean that an error has been committed. That is to say, the Intelligence Service works in a different way. ‘The operation of the Intelligence Service is unique because it is necessary to keep it secret. Any information revealed to the public could be dangerous for the public and for the employees,’ explained Skuhra.
The Head of the Defence Department concluded that if the allegations are proven to be true, he will apply zero tolerance and take necessary action against those involved among personnel for any error detected.
