Launching Missiles for Real

The soldiers from the Anti-aircraft Rocket Brigade in Nitra launched the KUB II missiles over the Baltic Sea in Poland. It was a real combat action the Slovak soldiers took part in after a 5 year long break.

Our soldiers took part in such an action for the last time in 2008. I am delighted that our soldiers could practice firing in a real setting because it is the best opportunity to test what they had practiced in their military bases at home,’ stated the Minister of Defence of the SR Martin Glváč, who took part in the training in Poland.

According to the Chief of the General Staff of the AF of the SR Lieutenant General Peter VOJTEK, the combat shooting was the culmination of the training. The live firing of the members of the Anti-aircraft Rocket Brigade from Nitra took place in the USTKA Military training area in the Republic of Poland from 7 to 17 May and represented the combat activity drill at real targets with developed systems of command and control.
