The State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic Miloš Koterec commemorated the happenings which occurred 95 years ago and significantly contributed to the recognition of the future independent Republic of Czechoslovakia.
‘The Republic of Czechoslovakia was for the first time recognized in this place. According to the position of France, the Great Britain, the USA and Italy recognized the independence after which the first government of Czechoslovakia was informally appointed,’ stated the State Secretary in the place where the French President Raymond Poincaré handed over the battle flag to the 21st Czechoslovak Rifle Regiment of Czechoslovak volunteers on 30 June 1918.
The State Secretary Miloš Koterec visited the Czechoslovak historical museum and handed over a commemorative medal to the 84 year-old director of the museum André Poirot, who has worked here for 50 years.
