Minister Gajdoš holds talks with Israeli Ambassador Z. A. Vapni

Today (11 July 2019), Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš welcomed the Israeli Ambassador to Slovakia, His Excellency Mr Zvi Aviner Vapni to the Ministry of Defence for bilateral talks, as his Diplomatic Service appointment in Slovakia draws to an end. At the farewell meeting, they paid close attention to current issues of bilateral cooperation between both countries and reflected on its results so far.

On Slovakia’s defence relationship with Israel, Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš commented: “The areas of cooperation between the Slovak Republic and the State of Israel represent an opportunity to mutually strengthen the capabilities of both states. I think both countries have something to offer in order that this common goal may be attained.”

Topics of discussion included the ongoing modernization programmes in the Slovak Armed Forces. On procurement, Minister Gajdoš thanked Ambassador Vapni for the official offer of 3D medium, short and very short range radar systems by the State of Israel as part of the G2G selection process for 3D radars replacement.

Minister Gajdoš informed Ambassador Vapni about the stand-up of the new Slovak Special Operations Forces Command (SOCOM). In this context, he highlighted the possible areas of cooperation for both countries in the field of education and training of SVK and ISR SOF personnel, including the capabilities of the Training Centre Lešť and the CBRN Defence Training and Testing Centre Zemianske Kostoľany, and in the field of defence industry.
