Commander Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum General Miglietta visits Slovakia

At the invitation of SVK Chief of Defence General Daniel Zmeko, Commander Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (COM JFCBS) General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta and his delegation are paying a visit to Slovakia.
After a warm welcome to Bratislava, COM JFCBS General Miglietta met with CHOD General Zmeko for talks on issues of common interest. Both generals discussed the Slovak Armed Forces' involvement in the new generation of NATO plans and the current military and security developments across Ukraine from Slovakia's perspective.
SVK Chief of Defence General Daniel Zmeko said: “Delivering on Allied commitments with plans drawn up to the highest standards is the cornerstone of securing our defence, especially in todayʼs complicated security situation.”
During the meeting, General Miglietta praised the work done by the SVK service personnel assigned to HQ JFCBS, of which he is in command, and recognised the level of alignment between Slovakia's national defence plans and NATO's collective defence plans.
That same day at the SVK MOD, General Miglietta also met State Secretary of the Slovak Ministry of Defence Marian Majer. Their conversation centred on the mission and activities of the NATO Multinational Battlegroup in Slovakia. Mr Majer appreciated having the chance to meet General Miglietta for open bilateral dialogue.
Highlighting the unity of NATO and its determination to defend itself against any threats, State Secretary Marian Majer said: “At our own request, the North Atlantic Alliance has provided us with the NATO Multinational Battlegroup as an important element of deterrence and defence. Building the Battlegroup has greatly added to a deepening of interoperability with allies and a strengthening of collective defence."
Mr Majer was appreciative of the extraordinary efforts that the contributing nations along with SVK military and civilian staff put in to stand up the multinational battlegroup within such a short time frame and to bring it to operational readiness.
