Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď had the honour of receiving the Czech and Slovak Transatlantic Award on the sidelines of the NATO Days 2022 in Ostrava on Friday (17 September 2022). Speaking on this occasion, he appreciated the security and foreign policy community for perceiving the work of the SVK Ministry of Defence positively, whether building SVK-CZE defence and security ties or firmly anchoring Slovakia's membership in NATO and the EU.
Speaking at the awards ceremony in Ostrava, Jaroslav Naď said: “I am truly honoured and I appreciate it immensely. Last but not least, I am grateful for the recognition of our efforts in supporting Ukraine. Along with my colleagues in Defence, we will do everything it takes to keep Slovakia safe and to help our friends with all our strength – just as they helped us in our national uprising against Nazism.”
Over the past decade of its existence, the Czech and Slovak Transatlantic Award has been presented to a number of personalities of international politics, for example, to former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Swedish ex-Prime Minister Carl Bildt, former Czech Foreign Affairs Minister Karel Schwarzenberg and former Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister and MEP Eduard Kukan, Minister Naď added.
