Information warfare and its ramifications for society was the subject of today's meeting between State Secretary Marian Majer and Director of the Finland-based European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats (Hybrid COE) Ms Teija Tiilikainen on her first visit to the Ministry of Defence in Bratislava.
In defending against a wide range of hybrid threats, Hybrid COE offers its collective best practices and expertise to the benefit of all NATO countries. “Since the annexation of Crimea in 2014, we have found ourselves engaged in hybrid warfare. So, it is more than important to engage in consultations, cooperate together and enhance interoperability in the fight against hybrid threats. That is the only way for successfully confronting the information war and its ramifications for society,” Marian Majer said.
Slovakia is planning to work closely with the Centre on putting into practice Slovakia's Action Plan for the Coordinated Countering of Hybrid Threats for 2022-2024, endorsed by the SVK Government in March 2022.
Apart from this cooperation, Mr Majer and Ms Tiilikainen touched on the current security situation in the world, Russia's aggression against Ukraine, and the ongoing information war.
