Military Police (SVK MP) take delivery of new SAKO TRG 42A1 Bolt Action Sniper Rifles in .338 Lapua Magnum (8.6mm)

The Slovak Military Police (SVK MP) have recently taken delivery of the SAKO TRG 42A1 Bolt Action Sniper Rifles, chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum (8.6mm), along with optical scopes and other accessories, enabling SVK MP sharpshooters to deliver high precision fire over long distances, even in the most extreme of conditions.
On the latest sniper capability, Director of the Slovak Military Police Col Valentín Cebo said: “These are the weapons that have seen service on operations with other partner armed forces as well. At present, they are among the best sniper rifles on the world market for armed services and police forces. This acquisition will greatly contribute to the systematic modernisation of the Slovak Military Policeʼs weaponry and equipment – these have made tremendous strides in technological advances over the past two years.”
The new specialist long-range precision rifles from Finland's firearm manufacturer SAKO were contracted through the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA), which is the ultimate guarantee of transparency and compliance with the rules of international competitive bidding, and so the Slovak Military Police has acquired what is the best for the best price directly from the firearms supplier.
A total of seven SAKO TRG 42A1 Bolt Action Sniper Rifles along with accessories have been purchased under the contract. So far, the costs stand at €119,704. But it won't be until the presentation of the NSPA's invoice that the final bill is known, whereas it is expected to amount to no more than €135,300.
The role of MP snipers is to provide overwatch and cover to MP service personnel as they undertake duties at home and, especially, on operations abroad. Renowned for their outstanding marksmanship achievements as part of national and international cooperation in the long run, SVK MP snipers are highly respected by Slovakia's armed services and police forces as much as by NATO partners.
