The Slovak Military Police has opened a new test track at its Vlkanová-based facility to sharpen the skills of drivers across Defence in a range of driving situations. The new test track has replaced the old one, which, until recently, provided only limited training options because of its poor state of repair.
Director of the Slovak Military Police Col Valentín Cebo said: “The new test track will greatly improve the quality of preparation and standard and specialist training for MP personnel, drivers in Defence, and service personnel of the Slovak Armed Forces and the militaries with which the SVK Military Police cooperates in this field, whereas it holds true that a well-trained driver is at a much lower risk of getting involved in a road traffic accident.”
As Col Cebo reminded us, the Military Police is a guarantor of training for drivers with the right of way in Defence. Alongside the training on motorcade escorting duties, it also delivers training on specialist vehicles. He added that the first training course on the new test track has been completed by now.
Due to the old training track being in a poor state of repair, driver training at Vlkanová was until recently limited to basic vehicle handling skills, whereas real-life emergency scenarios were practised with the speeds up to 30km/h only.
