Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď received Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Oleksandr Kubrakov at MOD Main Building in Bratislava today. The discussion revolved around the operational needs of Ukraine's Armed Forces in the face of Russia's unprecedented aggression.
Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Kubrakov thanked Defence Minister Naď for Slovakia's selfless, steadfast and tailored assistance to Ukraine, thanks to which countless lives have been saved and the Ukrainian people enduring great hardships and struggling for their bare lives have received much-needed aid.
Speaking about Ukraine, Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “We have been helping with military and humanitarian assistance, and we also want to help with Ukraine’s post-war restoration. The scale of the damage to property is astronomical and it will take several generations for the scars on the soul of the Ukrainian Nation to heal. I hope this senseless destruction, plundering and killing will end soon and we will do our utmost to make sure that Ukraine can once again become a prosperous, modern and secure country after the war.”
Slovakia's military aid packages to Ukraine so far have included, among other things, the S-300 air defence system, Božena demining UGVs, 30 BVP-1 IFVs, five transport helicopters, munitions, fuel, 13 MiG-29 Fulcrums, and some assets of the SA-6 "Gainful" ("Kub") surface-to-air missile (SAM) system. Slovakia also supports Ukraine by running its battle damage repair (BDR) workshop in Michalovce and by training Ukrainian forces under the European Union Military Assistance Mission Ukraine (EUMAM UA).
