MOD to draw in prospective recruits for Slovak Armed Forces through its recruitment campaign: ‘A LOT OF PROFESSIONS, ONE MISSION’

The Ministry of Defence wants to build on last year's very successful trend of drawing in prospective recruits for the Slovak Armed Forces. To make the work of Service personnel more visible, these days the MOD is launching a new recruitment campaign, as reflected in its slogan: ‘A LOT OF PROFESSIONS, ONE MISSION’.

Speaking about the recruitment of new regular soldiers, Defence Minister Martin Sklenár said: “Last year showed that young people were interested in joining the Armed Services. It is now largely due to the current security situation that those interested are signing up for the Service with their utmost commitment. The Slovak Armed Forces are rightly deemed to be Slovakia’s most credible institution, which, ultimately, is the best advert.”

Recruitment adverts which will be shown on television, aired on radio, and displayed on billboards are at the core of the nation-wide campaign. In addition, over 100,000 leaflets promoting the Armed Forces will be handed out in support of the campaign at different public events, even in the streets of Slovak cities. And thousands of posters and promotion materials are already available at the Armed Forces' units, facilities and recruitment centres across the whole of Slovakia. Last but not least, the recruitment campaign will be supported by the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces through their posts on social media channels.

Over the past months, presentation activities by armed forces at public events, job fairs, and secondary and tertiary schools across the entirety of Slovakia – a key element of the campaign – have provided much of the pre-recruitment engagement required to attract young recruits. At their promo activities, military personnel provide information on the roles in the Armed Forces and the Terms and Conditions of Service (TACOS), as well as presenting combat equipment and military clothing.

The ‘A LOT OF PROFESSIONS, ONE MISSION’ campaign is geared towards increasing the total strength of SVK Forces personnel by 20%. Altogether, 880 new soldiers joined the Armed Services in 2022. The MOD expects to see an increase in serving personnel by 1,000 troops this year and by another 1,000 next year. More information on how to become a soldier is available on the Slovak Armed Forces recruitment website at www.budemvojak.sk.
