Ministry of Defence gives out 500,000 euros in grants to non-governmental organisations

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) continues to support interesting projects to the benefit of SVK Defence & Security. This year, too, the MOD has set aside 500,000 euros for the projects of the third sector involving civic associations, foundations, non-investment funds, non-profit organisations, and municipalities. Of the 149 applications submitted, 63 project proposals have received funding.

Defence Minister Martin Sklenár said: “Our goal was once again to support purposeful projects with benefits to the wider society – whether it be increasing an understanding of the importance of Defence & Security and the MODʼs priorities or strengthening awareness of the Slovak Armed Forcesʼ significance for the whole society.”

Under the MOD Grant Scheme, the MOD supports educational, military themed, sporting, cultural and social projects that aim to nurture a sense of modern patriotism in SVK citizens, to provide updates on NATO and EU affairs, to promote the SVK Armed Forces in the public, and to protect our historical and cultural heritage with a focus on military history. All funds must be used towards completion of the proposed projects by the end of 2023.

The list of all proposals scored on merit and with grants awarded is available at the MOD website at: /data/files/5112_protokol-2023.pdf.
