Ukraine Defence Contact Group (UDCG) members speak about the most urgent needs of Ukrainian defenders

Defence Minister Martin Sklenár today participated in a video conference of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (UDCG) in the format of defence leaders of selected countries. Topics in the spotlight included the situation on the battlefield, progress in Ukraine's counteroffensive, and the Ukrainian military's most urgent battlefield needs to reclaim their homeland.

Following today's gathering of the UDCG, Defence Minister Martin Sklenár said: “We continue to support dialogue with our Ukrainian partners with the aim of providing them with tailored assistance, of course, as resources allow. Safeguarding Ukraineʼs sovereignty, independence and Euro-Atlantic direction is a common concern of the democratic world. With Russia unwilling to stop this senseless human suffering inflicted by its military aggression, the only way Ukraine can defend itself under international law is for our eastern neighbour to mount effective defence and drive the aggressorʼs forces from its country.”

Since its formation – with over 40 defence leaders in attendance at its first meeting – at Ramstein AB on 26 April 2022, the U.S.-led UDCG has met regularly, with the aim of exploring ways to keep Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression. Today marked the 14th such meeting.
