Defence Minister Sklenár: IDEB Bratislava has a firm place among the world's leading defence & security trade shows

A flypast from the Slovak Air Force aircraft over the Incheba Exhibition and Conference Centre marked the opening of the International Defence Exhibition Bratislava – IDEB Defence & Security in Bratislava today. The trade show, which is in its 10th year, was attended by Defence Minister Martin Sklenár, Deputy Defence Minister Marian Majer, and Chief of Defence Gen Daniel Zmeko. The Slovak Defence Ministry has been a proud partner of the event since its beginning in 2008.

Speaking at the IDEB Opening Ceremony, Defence Minister Martin Sklenár said: “A strong and dynamic defence industry in the trans-Atlantic region is an essential prerequisite for security and peace as the military conflict unfolds in Ukraine. Slovakia does not want to fall behind in this task. I am pleased to see that the IDEB fair is an event that has, in the long run, supported the export opportunities of the Slovak defence industry and has opened doors to world markets.”

For the Slovak Defence Ministry, IDEB Bratislava is an opportunity to present real and decisive progress being made towards modernising the Slovak Armed Forces to domestic and international audiences, Minister Sklenár emphasised, as it gives both lay and professional visitors a chance to familiarise themselves with the latest cutting-edge equipment and technology that has been brought into service with our Armed Forces in recent years.

At IDEB 23, the MOD is exhibiting hundreds of pieces and types of military equipment in service with the Slovak Armed Forces, including the newly fielded Leopard 2A4 MBT, Zuzana 2 SPH, Božena 5 Demining UGV, and other platforms.

Exhibitors with their product line and services include MOD-run industrial companies, Slovakia's leading private firms, international defence manufactures, as well as subject matter experts on Defence & Security from across relevant EU and NATO institutions.

Bratislava's IDEB arms fair also provides visitors interested in careers in the Service with information on military roles. The Armed Forces Recruitment stands are available both inside and outside of the exhibition centre, where the recruiting & selection teams brief visitors on the Terms and Conditions of Service (TACOS) in the Armed Forces, Voluntary Military Training (VMT), Active Reserves (AR), and study programmes at the Armed Forces Academy Liptovský Mikuláš.

The MOD Pavilion is a showcase of all military services with stands from and presentations by MOD organisations, Army and Air Force units, including General M. R. Štefánik Armed Forces Academy (AOS) Liptovský Mikuláš, Dukla Military Sports Centre Banská Bystrica, Military Forests and Estates (VLM), Institute of Military History (VHÚ) Bratislava, and Training Centre (TC) Lešť.
