Five Slovak Armed Forces service personnel receive the general officers' stars in a promotion ceremony at the Presidential Palace

Five Slovak Armed Forces service personnel have taken over their Certificate of Promotion from the hands of Slovak President and Commander-in-Chief Zuzana Čaputová during today's promotion ceremony at the Grassalkovich Palace, Bratislava.

In the presence of Defence Minister Martin Sklenár and Chief of Defence Gen Daniel Zmeko, Defence Staff (DS) Col Martin Kuterka and Col Beáta Hanušniaková were promoted to the rank of Brigadier General, the most junior General rank of the Slovak Armed Forces. Importantly, Col Beáta Hanušniaková is the first servicewoman to be promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in the Slovak military. Brig Gen Martin Stoklasa (Chief of Staff for Operations, Defence Staff), Brig Gen Ladislav Dovhun (Chief of the Presidential Military Office) and Brig Gen Tibor Králik (Commander NATO Headquarters Multinational Division Centre in Hungary) were promoted to the rank of Major General. All promotions were consistent with the Slovak Armed Forces Manning Plan.

Speaking at the rank pinning on ceremony, Defence Minister Martin Sklenár said: “On this very special occasion, I must once again say we are immensely proud of our Armed Forces. The one- and two-star insignias that have been pinned on the uniforms of the service personnel represent an acknowledgement of their merit in building and developing the Slovak Armed Forces. We appreciate what the newly promoted major generals and brigadier generals have done for Slovakia. We wish them a lot of determination and strength for the tasks of delivering security for our country and NATO Member States that lie ahead.”
