'Soldiers Through the Eyes of Children' Drawing and Painting Competition 2024 knows its winners

On Friday 17 May 2024, the Ministry of Defence judged the entries of the 23rd edition of the MOD Drawing and Painting Competition 2024 – Soldiers Through the Eyes of Children – open to primary school pupils across Slovakia. In keeping with tradition, the competition was officially announced by Defence Minister Robert Kaliňák, Chief of Defence Daniel Zmeko, and the Defence Magazine Editorial Staff.

A total of 2,335 drawing and painting entries from 300 primary schools were submitted this year. This is the third highest number of entries in the history of the competition. With all eligible entries judged on style, originality and message in the Junior Pupils category (1,839) and in the Senior Pupils category (494), the Ministry of Defence is delighted to announce the winners of the competition.

Nina Hozzová of Smižany Fine Arts School, Andrej Matušák of Ľubomír Hoľma Fine Arts School in Trstená, and Natália Möhwaldová of Mlynská Primary School in Stropkov walked away as first-, second- and third-place finishers in the Junior Pupils category.

Sofia Lovásová of M. R. Štefánik Primary School in Trebišov won the top gong in the Senior Pupils category, followed by Nela Jacková of Pribina Primary School in Trebišov and Lívia Pinkošová of Vranov nad Topľou Fine Arts School in second and third places.

The winners of both categories will be presented with certificates, presents and cash prizes. Their artworks will be published in the Defence Magazine and on Defence websites.
