Deputy Defence Minister Martin Vojtašovič visits SVK military personnel in Latvia

A Slovak MOD delegation led by Deputy Defence Minister Martin Vojtašovič today paid a visit to Camp Ādaži, home of NATO's enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) Battlegroup in Latvia, where 115 SVK military personnel along with their Zuzana 2 self-propelled howitzer gun systems are stationed. He was very much interested in how SVK soldiers manage their daily routine and what their operational tasks and requirements are as they work with their counterparts.
On his visit to Latvia, Deputy Defence Minister Vojtašovič praised the SVK servicemen and women's readiness and commitment to undertake their core tasks in furtherance of NATO's collective defence, whilst emphasising the human dimension of this deployment – our service personnel are serving on operations away from their families, relatives and friends.
As with all SVK Armed Forces deployments, the men and women of the Slovak Armed Forces gain a wealth of operational experience and skills that are key to the continued progress of the Slovak Armed Forces. So in this way, too, we strengthen our defences and demonstrate that Slovakia is a proud and responsible NATO member, according to Mr Vojtašovič.
The SVK troops have formed part of NATO's enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) in Latvia since 2018. The main task of NATO's eFP is to demonstrate NATO member states' readiness to respond to possible security threats under Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty.
