Slovak Ministry of Defence not to be the Event Partner for this year's Slovak International Air Fest (SIAF)

Given that the Slovak National Uprising (SNP) 80th Anniversary Celebrations coincide with the date of the Slovak International Air Fest (SIAF), the Slovak Ministry of Defence will not organisationally support the airshow this year. Based partly on the recommendation of the Slovak Air Force, operating military capabilities at the airshow is technically unfeasible from the perspective of high logistical requirements and costs.
The Ministry of Defence informed the SIAF leadership of its decision not to participate in the airshow's organisation as early as January 2024. No Implementing Agreement was signed by the Parties – this may be concluded on the basis of the valid Framework Agreement between the MOD and SIAF, however, the MOD decided not to proceed with such cooperation for the reasons stated above. For the past two years, the event attendance figures at Malacky - Kuchyňa Air Base have been down by as much as twofold, compared to those at Sliač Air Base.
In the future, the MOD is interested in organising a military parade with a focus on the capabilities of the Slovak Armed Forces that will appeal to all military lovers with an interest in Air Force aircraft and Army vehicles.
