Information on Armed Forces Parade rehearsals for residents of Banská Bystrica and Zvolen

With regard to military rehearsals for the Armed Forces Parade organised on the occasion of the Slovak National Uprising (SNP) 80th Anniversary National Event celebrations by the Ministry of Defence on 29 August 2024, we would like to inform the residents of Banská Bystrica and Zvolen that about 3,000 service personnel will be staying in Banská Bystrica and Zvolen between 14 and 30 August 2024. They are being accommodated in secondary school and university dormitories, including those situated in the Sásová and Kremnička housing estates and on Tajovského, Školská, Havranská, Internátna and Severná Streets in Banská Bystrica as well as those located on Švermova, Jabloňová, and Študentská Streets and on Lučenecká Road in Zvolen.

Each day between 5.00hrs and 6.45hrs, military personnel will move from their student dorms in Banská Bystrica and Zvolen to Sliač Air Base for the Armed Forces Parade rehearsals. In the evening between 18.30hrs and 20.30hrs, they will return to their accommodation places. These military movements will be conducted in convoys of 5 to 30 service trucks and coaches along the designated routes. A large convoy will split into smaller convoys to reduce traffic congestion. During their entire stay in Banská Bystrica and Zvolen, uniformed personnel may be seen walking around with the equipment they need to rehearse the Armed Forces Parade.
