COME AND JOIN US IN CELEBRATING 80TH ANNIVERSARY OF BATTLE OF DUKLA PASS

The Battle of the Dukla Pass 80th Anniversary National Commemoration Event will take place at Dukla and in Svidník on Sunday 6 October 2024.

Throughout the day, visitors are invited to join in and experience the celebrations at the Czechoslovak Army Corps Memorial at Dukla and in the Museum of Military History Park in Svidník, with both sites offering rich cultural programmes, side events, and attractions for the public.

Alongside the commemoration events, the celebrations will be marked with static displays and live demonstrations of the Armed Forces and Military Police as well as with presentations of military history clubs.

A free bus shuttle service between Svidník and Dukla will be available to visitors, with busses running every 15 minutes from 10:00 to 16:00.

Dukla - Programme and Timings:

• 11:00 - Dukla Memorial & Grounds open to the public

• 13:00 - Flypast from Slovak Air Force aircraft

• 13:00 - Wreath-laying ceremony

• 13:50 – Speeches from keynote speakers, followed by flypast from Slovak Air Force aircraft

Musical & dance performances:

• Lúčnica Folk Ensemble

• Čendeš Orchestra

• Operatic tenor Miroslav Dvorský

• Singer Ivana Regešová

Live coverage of the celebrations will be brought to the public by Slovak Television and Radio (STVR), starting at 13:00.

10:55 - Slovak Armed Forces Guard of Honour Show

11:10 - Accordionists

11:30 - Military Police (MP) Military Working Dog (MWD) handers in action before the stage

11:50 - Majic Spurs Band

12:20 - A demonstration of hand-to-hand combat

12:30 - Slovak Armed Forces Guard of Honour Show

14:30 - Šarišan Folk Ensemble

15:00 - Kandráč Band

Visitors to the Museum of Military History will be able to watch the Battle of the Dukla Pass 80th Anniversary National Commemoration Event live from Dukla on LED screens, starting at 13:00.

There will be food & drink stands for visitors at both sites.
